MED REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO TRANSFORM THE EDUCATION SYSTEM

The Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, reiterated, this Monday, in Luanda, the commitment to transforming the education system, with professionals capable of training creators, inventors and discoverers.

The minister, who was speaking at the opening of level 1 training of the Girls' Empowerment and Learning for All project (PATII), recognized the need to increasingly train young people with critical thinking, responsible, individually and collectively.

For the minister, training will contribute significantly to improving the quality of the educational and teaching process, in order to make it increasingly competitive, resilient and capable of responding to development needs in a world in constant transformation.

Luísa Grilo stated that the training will provide very important topics to achieve this goal, such as the Strategy for Raising Awareness against Violence, for Sexual Education, reproductive health, as well as resources and didactic tools for use in the classroom to improve the quality of students' learning.

According to the minister, the participation of more than 100 teachers from teaching schools, with emphasis on primary school teachers from all over the country, in this 1st stage of training level 1 trainers, will allow the acquisition of knowledge that should be replicated in the respective provinces and thus guarantee its multiplier effect.
“The Angolan Executive is strongly committed to accelerating student learning by improving the professional development of teachers”, he reinforced.

For this reason, he said, today it is not enough for teachers to accumulate knowledge and know how to transmit it linearly in the form of information, as it is not enough for a teaching-learning process that is expected to be effective.

In his view, currently the teacher should look more closely at the student in the process of building his own knowledge.
